What are the Praxis tests?

The Praxis measures the academic skills and subject-specific content knowledge needed for teaching. The tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by the State of Colorado and UCCSTeach. Which tests do I need to take?

• Mathematics: Mathematics (7-12) Mathematics Content Knowledge – Test #5165
• Science: Science (7-12) General Science: Content Knowledge – Test #5436

When should I take the tests?

Undergraduate students should take the Praxis tests during the summer or winter break shortly after admission to the UCCSTeach program.

Post-Bacc students should take the Praxis tests before applying to the program.

How much do the tests cost?

The required tests cost $130 each.
